Mom's Meals, headquartered in Des Moines, Iowa, seeks a collaborative and mission driven leader to serve as its next Healthcare Contracting Attorney. Reporting directly to Heidi Goodman, General Counsel of Mom's Meals, this is a pivotal role ensuring legal compliance, mitigating risk, and supporting strategic business initiatives across payor relationships, government programs, and commercial partnerships. The Healthcare Contracting Attorney will provide strategic legal guidance on healthcare contracting matters, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, including Medicare and Medicaid requirements. This role is responsible for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of agreements, including payor contracts and commercial partnerships, in alignment with established approval matrices and corporate legal policies. Key responsibilities include leading contract negotiations to secure favorable terms, fostering strong and compliant relationships with external stakeholders, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support business objectives while maintaining legal integrity. The Healthcare Contracting Attorney will monitor evolving healthcare laws and regulations, proactively advising on contract updates and risk mitigation strategies. Additionally, the role will drive improvements in internal contracting processes, policies, and systems for efficiency and scalability, maintain accurate contract databases and records, and participate in special projects as assigned.
The incoming Healthcare Contracting Attorney should possess a Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA accredited school of law with a background in government contract law, health law, and/or managed care. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience in the areas of corporate or healthcare law and knowledge of Medicare and/or Medicaid insurance, state insurance and HMO regulations. While relocation to the Des Moines, Iowa, area is preferred, there is the option for this position to be supporting the organization virtually working out of a home office environment, ideally in or near a community with easy access to Des Moines, Iowa.
